What people said
"It was science. It was art. it was philosophy.
It was unlike anything I attended before."
Christopher Sweeney
Writer, Producer & Professor

"I attended a talk on ‘Creativity’ given by Glenn D’Hondt at Seneca Polytechnic in Toronto, where I teach. I went with some mild curiosity but mostly at the behest of a colleague who had organized it. I was not expecting much. I figured I would make an appearance and then duck out. It seemed like it might be a wishy-washy sort of thing – creativity? What did that mean?
Instead, Glenn presented a lecture and discussion which positively electrified and delighted me. It was science. It was art. It was philosophy. It was like nothing I had attended before.
What struck me most was Glenn’s good humour and pragmatic approach to teaching people how to be creative. As a creative writing and film production professor, this was a quest I myself have been on for a while. Can creativity even be taught? Glenn answers that with a resounding ‘yes’.
So much of what he talks about and what he does in the classroom resonates with me and reflects processes and strategies I have developed, stolen and stumbled on over the years. But here was a presentation that put them into a coherent practice with science and philosophy to back it up.
I definitely geeked out on this stuff and wish I could take such a class with Glenn as a student. Instead, I admire what he does and will shamelessly use what I learned from him going forward.
When I grow up, I hope I can teach a class called Creativity like Glenn does. But until then, you should probably take his class instead."
